Registering for the LANTITE is straightforward, but there are strict rules around deadlines and delivery options that catch candidates out. Read this before you book.

Who Needs to Register

The LANTITE is required for all students completing an accredited initial teacher education (ITE) course in Australia. You are required to make at least one test attempt during your ITE course. For the current policy on when that attempt must occur, refer to your university and the ACER FAQ.

Prospective students who have not yet enrolled in an ITE course are not required to sit.

What You Need Before You Register

  • Full legal name (as it appears on your ID)
  • Date of birth
  • Your higher education provider
  • Email address (all communications go here)
  • Credit card for payment
  • Valid photo ID (presented on test day, not at registration)

Step-by-Step: How to Register

  1. Create an account at the ACER candidate portal: teacheredreg.acer.edu.au. If you have registered before, log in to your existing account.
  2. Enter your personal details: full name, date of birth, higher education provider.
  3. Select your test component(s). Literacy and Numeracy are registered separately. You can register for one or both in the same session.
  4. Choose your test session. Select a date and time from the available options in the current test window.
  5. Choose your delivery mode: test centre or remote proctoring (see below).
  6. Pay. Registration is complete once payment is submitted.
  7. Check your email for a confirmation and your Admission Ticket.

When your registration is confirmed, ACER also gives you access to practice materials: PDF versions are included automatically, and an interactive version is available in your candidate account.

Fees

Components Fee (GST inclusive)
Single component (Literacy or Numeracy) $98
Both components $196

LANTITE fees cannot be added to HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP. Full payment is required at registration.

If you cancel before the registration period closes, ACER may refund the fee minus an administration charge. After the registration period closes, no refund is available. For the current cancellation policy and any applicable charge, refer to the ACER portal at the time of registration.

For current fees and dates, refer to ACER's registration page.

Test Centre vs Remote Proctoring

Test Centre Remote Proctoring
Where Capital cities and some regional centres Any suitable location with stable internet
When Scheduled sessions during the test window 24 hours per day during the test window
Booking First-come, first-served Must book at least 72 hours in advance
No-show Does not count as a test attempt Cancelling within 24 hours = absent, fee forfeited
Time to allow 120 minutes per component 2.5 to 3 hours per component (setup included)

Important: you must choose the same delivery mode for both components within a test window. You cannot sit Literacy at a test centre and Numeracy by remote proctoring in the same window.

Deadlines: The Rules Are Strict

The LANTITE runs in four test windows per year. Each window has a registration opening date and a closing date. ACER is explicit: registrations will not be accepted after the closing date under any circumstances. There are no exceptions and no late registrations.

The same applies to deferrals: once a window closes, your registration cannot be moved to a future window.

Check the current test window dates and registration deadlines at teacheredtest.acer.edu.au before you plan.

If You Register for Both Components

You can sit both Literacy and Numeracy in the same test window, but you schedule them as separate sessions. ACER recommends leaving at least a two-hour gap between sessions.

You can only sit each component once per test window. If you pass one and not the other, you only need to re-register for the component you did not pass.

A Note on Email Confirmation

If you use a Hotmail or Yahoo email address, add teacheredtest@acer.org to your contacts before registering. Confirmation emails and Admission Tickets from ACER occasionally land in spam with these providers.
