The LANTITE has a registration fee per component, paid at the time of booking through the ACER candidate portal. Payment must be made in full before your registration is confirmed. There is no payment plan and fees cannot be deferred to HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP.

For current fees, visit the ACER registration page. Literacy and Numeracy are registered separately, even if you sit them in the same test window. You pay for each component at the point of registration.

What the Fee Covers

The registration fee covers access to the test session itself and the results report ACER releases after the scoring period. Your results report shows your band (Below standard, At or above standard, or Clearly above standard) and a score profile. The fee does not cover any third-party preparation materials or coaching.

When registration is confirmed, ACER also provides access to practice materials through the candidate portal. These are included automatically and do not cost extra.

Re-sit Fees

There is no limit on the number of times you can attempt each component. However, the full registration fee applies to every attempt. Fees are not discounted for re-sits.

Because each component is independent, you only pay to re-sit the component you did not pass. If you pass Literacy first time and do not pass Numeracy, your next registration covers Numeracy only.

How to Pay

Payment is made by credit card through the ACER online portal at teacheredtest.acer.edu.au. Payment is required to complete registration. Your place in the test session is not held until payment is submitted and confirmed.

Rescheduling and Cancellations

ACER publishes a cancellation and rescheduling policy on the candidate portal. The key points to understand before you register:

  • If you cancel before the registration period closes, ACER may refund the fee minus an administration charge. The current policy and any applicable charge are set out in the portal at the time of registration.
  • After the registration period closes, no refund is available regardless of the reason for cancellation.
  • If you are a no-show on test day at a test centre, the fee is forfeited and the absence does not count as a test attempt.
  • For remote proctoring, cancelling within 24 hours of your scheduled session is treated as an absence and the fee is forfeited.

Because the refund window is tied to the registration period (not the test date), candidates who register early have more time to cancel if circumstances change. If there is any chance your schedule will shift, check the current cancellation policy in the portal before you pay.

ACER does not grant extensions, transfers to future windows, or exceptions to the closing date. If you miss the registration window entirely, you wait for the next one.

The Cheapest Path Is Passing First Time

The fee applies for every attempt at each component. Candidates who sit without adequate preparation and need multiple attempts pay that fee each time. The most cost-effective path through the LANTITE is being ready before you register.

The LANTITE pass standard is the 70th percentile of the Australian adult population, validated against the OECD PIAAC framework. The test is not designed to trick you, but it does require genuine command of the content. Candidates who sit without preparation regularly find themselves re-sitting.

Preparation that is grounded in the actual test format (question types, timing, content weighting) is the most direct way to reduce the total cost of getting through the LANTITE.

Prepare before you pay the fee again.

Our free practice tests cover both Literacy and Numeracy in the same format as the real LANTITE. Get a realistic read on where you stand before your next attempt.
